IXYS Corporation ("IXYS") appeals from the order of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California upholding a Magistrate Judges prior order that IXYS pay Edward S. Washburn certain special master fees as well as the attorney fees he incurred in bringing the motion to obtain such fees. See Harris Corp. v. IXYS Corp., No. C-94-3305 WHO (N.D. Cal. Feb. 24, 1997, as amended Feb. 28, 1997). Oral argument was heard on October 7, 1998. Because the special master services and resulting fees were contemplated by the parties and were within the scope of the district courts order of reference and because, under the circumstances presented here, IXYSs refusal to pay certain invoices coupled with its failure to contest the related fees affirmatively in court constituted willful violation of a court order, we affirm the district courts order.
